A 41-year-old man named Stephen Port is currently on trial for the murder of four gay men he met on the hookup app “Grindr.”
The London resident allegedly lured his victims into his home with the promise of sex, then gave all of them a lethal dose of the psychoactive drug, GHB, before raping them. Unfortunately, 23-year-old Anthony Walgate, 22-year-old Gabriel Kovari, 21-year-old Daniel Whitworth, and 25-year-old Jack Taylor all ended up dying by overdose. The latter three’s bodies were found in and around St. Margaret’s churchyard in Abbey Green between June 2014 and September 2015.
What’s disturbing is that Port made a call to emergency services about his first alleged victim, Anthony Walgate. He claimed to have seen the man unconscious in a car right in front of his apartment.
You might want to turn up your volume.
Port is also said to have attacked 12 men between 2012 and 2015. He denies all of his charges.
According to Daily Mail, those charges include four counts of murder, four counts of manslaughter, four counts of administering a poison with intent to endanger life or inflict grievous bodily harm, seven counts of rape, six counts of administering a substance with intent to overpower to allow sexual activity, and four counts of sexual assault by penetration.
If everything he’s accused of is true, let’s just hope he gets locked up for a long, long time.
