Most people would consider hiking to be a relatively safe hobby, right? Usually you’re hiking in parks that are regulated and patrolled so there’s help nearby should something terrible happen. However, even if you think you’re completely safe, you should still plan for disaster.

I bet the hiking group in this video never expected to find themselves face-to-face with a dangerously fast landslide. But that’s exactly what happened. Luckily, they were saved by some quick thinking and expert guides.

At least half that group was seconds away from a horrible death. My hat’s off to the man in white and the one filming — the fact that they kept their eyes upstream saved lives.
