If you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area and you come across a painted rock on your travels, you should probably know that the girl behind it is just as cute as the rainbow rock itself. While seven-year-old Alia was looking for a way to spread a bit of happiness in her community, she came up with a great idea.

The budding artist started using her favorite paint pens to cover stones with rainbows and inspirational quotes that people can carry with them all day. That’s how the Rainbow Rock Project was born.

Universe, meet Alia. This little one loves spreading joy throughout her community, and with the help of her mom, Agnes, she roams around San Francisco dropping little bits of happiness on park benches, street corners, and even on the Golden Gate Bridge!

Each one is decorated with a one-of-a-kind rainbow and stamped with an inspirational quote.

“My mission is to spread kindness and make people smile,” she writes.

It started as a small project, but the overwhelming response to Alia’s compassion has helped her and Mom turn this into a full-blown operation! For one dollar, donors can fund the creation of a rock. Alia uses their generosity to put one more rainbow out into the world.

Alia and Agnes originally set out to raise $500 and paint 500 rocks over the course of 2016, but they reached that goal in just 2 days! They now want to raise $1,000, and Dad will even match that amount if they reach their goal.
