A 97-year-old woman recently received an honorary high school diploma from the school she was supposed to graduate from in 1936. Margaret Thome Bekema was forced to drop out of high school when her mother fell ill with cancer. Bekema was charged with the duty of taking care of her siblings while her mother fought the devastating disease, and she was never able to go back to school.

After 79 years, Grand Rapids Catholic Central High decided to reward her for her efforts. As you can see in this video, saying that she’s grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it.
